On May 4, 2019 all 4 bond propositions were voted on and approved by the citizens of New Braunfels. This was the second time for the City of New Braunfels to offer a bond proposal to citizens since 2013.
>Prop 1 includes funding for citywide street improvements, extensions of FM 306 and Business 81, Goodwin/Conrads Lane construction, and Klein Road reconstruction - Phase 2.
>Prop 2 includes all-abilities park enhancements, Comal Cemetery wall stabilization, and a new sports field complex.
>Prop 3 has funding for two fire stations (replacements), and a new police department facility.
>Prop 4 is for a new library next door to the Westside Community Center.
Mayor Casteel has previously noted that the overwhelming majority of the funds will go toward Propositions 1 and 3 (streets and public safety). Funds from developer roadway impact fees will leverage street enhancements in Prop 1 and the NBEDC (aka 4B Board) will contribute funds toward the sports complex in Prop 2. No tax rate increase is expected with the successful passage of the bonds.
