VERAMENDI TOPIC OF JULY 14 QUARTERLY MEETING
December 6, 1941, the day before Pearl Harbor... The Word-Borchers Family purchased what is now the Veramendi property from Harry Landa. This 2,500-acre development is running on all cylinders, according to ASA Properties CEO and EDF Officer Peter James. James was the presenter at the July 14 EDF quarterly meeting held virtually with over 100 in attendance.
James reviewed the development, and design control agreements sets a high bar on such things as tree preservation, water quality, parkland dedication, pedestrian access, and landscaping in the project. To date, over $45 million has been invested with another $50 million by home builders. The NBU infrastructure upgrades and additions go beyond the boundaries of the development and includes two new water towers, two dams, sewer extensions, and more. Veramendi Dam #2 broke ground June 8 with Mayor and GNBEDF Ex-officio Director Brockman participating along with Councilmember Harry Bowers, City Manager and GNBEDF Treasurer Robert Camareno, and GNBEDF Executive Director and Ex-officio GNBEDF Director Michael Meek.
The development also contributed to the Loop 337 expansion project, provided property for two elementary schools, and acreage for CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System in the future. James showed slides of the 480 acres of parkland and 23 miles of trails. The residential product has single-family homes, multi-family, townhomes, and retirement product. The commercial portions of the development include neighborhood centers, business districts, and arts and entertainment districts, including a restaurant row.
Veramendi has formed a charitable foundation and has future plans for a river resort and town center. Click here to see the presentation.
